Afternoon everyone – hope you are having a lovely Easter… we have had a fab time making this gorgeous shortbread – its lovely warm from the oven if you cant wait… or sometimes we have a slice with a rich chocolate pot as a real treat – hope you enjoy giving it a try and Happy Easter to you all XX
Orange shortbread
160g of self raising flour
zest of 1 orange
110g butter
60g of caster sugar
1 large egg yolk.

  1. Heat oven to 160C / 140C fan / gas 3
  2. Line baking tray with greaseproof
  3. Put flour / orange rind and butter into bowl and rub mixture together using finger tops until it resembles breadcrumbs
  4. Add egg yolk to bring mixture together… be patient – it will come together!
  5. Turn out onto a floured surface and roll out until 1 cm thick
  6. Transfer to baking tray
  7. Place in fridge for 30 mins
  8. Take out and bake for 25 / 30 minutes or until golden brown
  9. Take out of oven and cover with caster sugar whilst still warm
